THE IDEA

Most art projects begin with an idea. Artists can start with a fixed idea or they can go looking for an idea. In either case, ideas should be collected, sorted, synthesized, and then developed. In a sense, this a brainstorming process involving search, collection, research, and construction. When this process has been done, and a firm idea about the nature of the art project emerges, artists can then move on to the the design phase.
